WEEK TWO: DON’T FIGHT STUPID FIGHTS – Nov. 13, 2016
In last night’s devastating fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor in the UFC Championship, Alvarez simply couldn’t get a single thing to flow in his direction. McGregor knocked him out cold in the 2nd round and proved to be too much of a feat to conquer for eager Eddie. However, Alvarez handled the blow as good as could be expected when he humbled himself before the press and simply said, “I fought a stupid fight.”
What does that mean as it relates to Money Making Activities? Choose your battles wisely, my friends. With the recent elections, I see so many people choosing to use their Facebook accounts and valuable time fighting STUPID fights. Time and relationships are a commodity that is too valuable to waste on things that you can’t change!
What many people don’t realize is that the negativity they are spreading online will equal a loss of ground in their businesses. Instead of being a source of hope and healing, they are isolating themselves from potential customers and business possibilities.
In his book, Primal Leadership, which happens to be one of my ALL TIME, favorite leadership books and our “Book of the Month”, Daniel Goleman explains that a low level of Emotional Intelligence is the curse of a solid business leader. Be a resonant leader of positivity. Be an energy producer and light to the world of darkness around your. Don’t be dooped by the press and people with marketing agendas that want you to sacrifice your name, your influence and your brand on behalf of THEIR money making activity.
Instead, choose to spend your time learning your skill, growing your business and seeking ways to create a magnetic culture in your team. Choose to be a source of laughter, joy and positive energy that breeds a culture others will hunger and thirst for in the days and months to come!
